ASIIN Accreditation For 04 Master’s Programs At International University, VNU-HCM
MASTER OF ENGINEERING IN FOOD TECHNOLOGY, MASTER OF SCIENCE IN BIOTECHNOLOGY, MASTER OF INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY, MASTER OF ENGINEERING IN ELECTRONICS ENGINEERING
On February 19 and 20, 2025, International University, Vietnam National University Ho Chi Minh City (IU, VNU-HCM), had the honor of welcoming an expert team from ASIIN (Accreditation Agency for Study Programs in Engineering, Informatics, Natural Sciences, and Mathematics) to conduct the quality assessment of 04 master’s degree programs: Food Technology, Biotechnology, Information Engineering, and Electronics Engineering.
ASIIN is a reputable accreditation organization within the system of the European Association for Quality Assurance in Higher Education (ENQA). It specializes in assessing and certifying the quality of academic programs in the fields of natural sciences, engineering, mathematics and statistics, IT, educational sciences, and teacher training.
Previously, in September 2023, International University (IU) achieved ASIIN institutional accreditation with a maximum validity of 07 years (2023–2030). Additionally, 10 undergraduate programs and 1 master’s program were also recognized by ASIIN as meeting international standards.
Building on the success, IU continued to pursue accreditation for four master’s programs to ensure that all programs, from undergraduate to postgraduate levels, were assessed according to international standards. These 04 programs were divided into two clusters:
- Cluster A: Master of engineering in Food Technology, Master of science in Biotechnology.
- Cluster B: Master of Information Technology, Master of engineering in Electronics Engineering.
The ASIIN review team includes renowned experts from various countries and prestigious organizations.

- Prof. Dr. Gerhard Schleining, BOKU University;
- Prof. Dr. Uta Bergstedt, Niederrhein University of Applied Sciences;
- Dr. Knut Franke, Leibniz University Hannover;
- Dr. Hoang Phan, Managing Director EPOD;
- Doan Luu Nguyen Thuc, student at HCMUT;
- Mr. Sascha Warnke, ASIIN Office.
Cluster B:
- Prof. Dr.-Ing. Sigrid Hafner, South Westphalia University of Applied Sciences;
- Prof. Dr. Sascha Alda, Hochschule Bonn-Rhein-Sieg University of Applied Science;
- Mr. Tran Cong, FPT;
- Mr. Tien Nguyen Luong, student at University of Da Nang;
- Ms. Paulina Petracenko, ASIIN Office.
On behalf of International University (IU), Assoc. Prof. Dr. Dinh Duc Anh Vu – Vice President of IU, along with heads of Offices/Centers, deans of Schools/Departments, and faculty members from School of Biotechnology, School of Computer Science and Engineering, and School of Electrical Engineering were attended the opening meeting.

Having a speech at the opening meeting, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Dinh Duc Anh Vu – Vice President of International University (IU) – emphasized that the program-level accreditation according to ASIIN standards marked a significant milestone in IU’s development journey. The rigorous criterias of ASIIN would help IU enhance the quality of education and improve its academic programs. Besides, he also affirmed the importance and contributions of the 04 master’s programs to the overall educational quality of IU.

During two working days, the ASIIN expert team conducted: (1) a site visit to the university’s facilities for teaching and research. (2) interviews with stakeholders, including Board of Presidents, representatives of functional offices/centers, program coordinators from schools, faculty members, students, alumni, and industry.

At the exit meeting on February 20, 2025, the ASIIN expert team highly appreciated the strengths of the four master’s programs and provided key recommendations to further enhance the quality of education. The university expected to receive the preliminary report soon and would submit its response to complete the accreditation process before it is presented to ASIIN.
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Dinh Duc Anh Vu – Vice President – expressed deep gratitude to the ASIIN expert team for their insightful assessments and valuable recommendations. He emphasized that adopting international accreditation standards, especially from ASIIN, is one of IU’s key strategies to continuously enhance educational quality and strengthen its position in the global higher education system.
The meeting concluded with confidence in the sustainable development of the master’s programs at IU, further reinforcing IU’s reputation and educational quality on the global academic map.
