International University – VNU-HCM Shares Quality Assurance Experience With University Of Health Sciences – VNU-HCM Toward Achieving ASIIN Accreditation
On the afternoon of April 16, 2025, International University (IU) – VNU-HCM held a meeting and shared experiences with University of Health Sciences (UHS) on quality assurance and accreditation at both the institutional and program levels, following the ASIIN criteria.
ASIIN (Accreditation Agency for Study Programs in Engineering, Informatics, Natural Sciences and Mathematics) is a reputable accreditation organization within the European Association for Quality Assurance in Higher Education (ENQA) system. It is authorized to carry out evaluation and accreditation activities for higher education institutions and academic programs at various higher education levels in the fields of natural sciences, engineering, mathematics, computer science, medicine, and interdisciplinary programs that combine one of these fields with others.
On behalf of International University (IU), the delegation attending the experience-sharing session included Assoc. Prof. Dr. Vong Binh Long – Head of Office of Quality Assurance and Testing (QATO); Ms. Nguyen Thi Thu Thao – Deputy Head of QATO; Dr. Nguyen Thi Thanh Sang – Lecturer of School of Computer Science and Engineering; Ms. Le Thuy Hang – Team Leader of Quality Assurance Team – QATO; Ms. Ninh Thi Kim Duyen. – Staff of QATO.
Mr. Nguyen Hoang Dung, Vice President of University of Health Sciences (UHS), together with heads of offices, heads of schools/departments, and staff of UHS, was welcoming the delegation from IU.

Having a speech at the meeting, Mr. Nguyen Hoang Dung– Vice President of UHS, expressed his sincere gratitude to Board of Presidents and the delegation from IU for accepting the invitation and taking the time to attend the seminar and share valuable insights on quality assurance according to the ASIIN accreditation. He stated: “UHS currently offers five training programs. Among them, the Doctor of Medicine and Pharmacy programs have already been accredited under the AUN-QA framework. The university plans to pursue program-level accreditation for the Odonto-Stomatology, Nursing, and Traditional Medicine programs, and aims to progress toward institutional-level accreditation in the near future. We greatly look forward to learning from IU – one of the first universities in Vietnam to achieve institutional-level accreditation under ASIIN criteria – in order to best prepare for our own upcoming accreditation process.”

In response, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Vong Binh Long – Head of Office of QATO – shared: “Under the direction of the Board of Presidents of IU, our office is honored to represent the university in sharing the experience we have gained throughout the ASIIN accreditation process. Besides, IU also hopes to learn from the valuable experiences of USH. We sincerely hope that UHS will achieve the best possible outcomes in its upcoming accreditation process.”

The working session focused on two main topics: (1) Sharing by IU on experiences in institutional and program-level accreditation based on the ASIIN criteria; (2) Discussions and exchanges among the seminar participants.
During the session, IU presented and shared practical experiences with UHS on implementing program-level and institutional-level accreditation according to the ASIIN criteria. The presentation covered key aspects such as the accreditation process, self-evaluation procedure, preparation tasks, development of supporting documents and evidence, as well as arrangements for welcoming the ASIIN team.

In the open and collaborative atmosphere of the seminar, delegates from IU and UHS willingly shared their advantages, challenges, and lessons learned during the preparation process for ASIIN accreditation. The session also demonstrated a strong spirit of cooperation and mutual support among member universities of VNU-HCM, aiming to contribute to the sustainable development of the university system as a whole.

At the conclusion of the working session, Mr. Nguyen Hoang Dung – Vice President of UHS – expressed his sincere appreciation to IU for their honest, practical, and valuable sharing. He affirmed: “These sharing will play an important role in supporting UHS in thoroughly preparing for the ASIIN accreditation process. We also hope to receive further support from IU, particularly in terms of relevant ASIIN accreditation documentation.”
