Official Evaluation Of Two Programs According To ASIIN Criteria

OFFICIAL EVALUATION OF TWO PROGRAMS ACCORDING TO ASIIN CRITERIA:

BACHELOR OF ENGINEERING IN CHEMICAL ENGINEERING
AND MASTER OF ENGINEERING IN BIOMEDICAL ENGINEERING

INTERNATIONAL UNIVERSITY – VIETNAM NATIONAL UNIVERSITY HO CHI MINH CITY

            Within three days, from October 8th to 10th, 2024, International University – Vietnam National University Ho Chi Minh City (IU-VNUHCM), had the honor of welcoming the ASIIN review team to conduct the program accreditation for two programs (Bachelor of Engineering in Chemical Engineering and Master of Engineering in Biomedical Engineering).

            ASIIN (Accreditation Agency for Study Programmes in Engineering, Informatics, Natural Sciences and Mathematics) is one of the world’s leading accreditation agencies, headquartered in Germany, and a member of ENQA (European Association for Quality Assurance in Higher Education). Additionally, ASIIN has been recognized by Ministry of Education and Training since 2021. IU’s participation in institutional accreditation and program accreditation according to ASIIN criteria reflects a commitment to educational quality, meeting international standards.

The peer group for this accreditation process consisted of the following esteemed experts:

    • Prof. Dr. Philipp Wiedemann, University of Applied Sciences Mannheim;
    • Prof. Dr.-Ing. Theodor Doll, Medical School Hannover;
    • Dipl.-Ing. Manfred Kindler, Kindler International Division, Werne;
    • Dr. Ngo Vy Thao, Nong Lam University;
    • Tien Manh Nguyen, University of Technology, VNUHCM;

And the ASIIN office was represented by:

    • Rainer Arnold Dipl. Phys., ASIIN Office.

            On behalf of International University (IU), the meeting was attended by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Dinh Duc Anh Vu – Vice President, along with heads of offices/centers, deans, and faculty members from School of Chemical and Environmental Engineering, as well as School of Biomedical Engineering.

            In the opening of the meeting, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Dinh Duc Anh Vu emphasized that the accreditation of academic programs according to ASIIN criteria marks a significant milestone in IU’s development. The ASIIN criteria will help IU enhance the educational quality and improve the academic programs.

            During three working days, the ASIIN experts engaged in in-depth discussions and interviews with vice president, heads of offices/centers, deans/vice deans, program coordinators of two academic programs under evaluation, as well as faculty members, industry partners, students, alumni, and stakeholders.

            To gain a comprehensive perspective and evaluate IU’s ability to meet learning, research, and teaching needs, the ASIIN expert delegation conducted an IU’s tour (including laboratories, the library, classrooms, and other areas at IU).

            At the closing session, each member of the external evaluation delegation presented a preliminary report on the official survey results of assessment. The delegation provided an overview of strengths of programs and offered recommendations for Board of Presidents, Board of Deans, and program coordinators to further consider improvements and enhance the quality of education. These efforts aim to meet the increasing demands of employers and stakeholders, adapt to the ever-changing labor market, and ensure the rights and interests of students.

            Assoc. Prof. Dr. Dinh Duc Anh Vu, Vice President, extended the sincere gratitude to the external evaluation delegation for recognizing the strengths of two programs and providing valuable, realistic feedback aligned with their current state. He also expressed appreciation for the constructive recommendations offered to the university. Besides, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Dinh Duc Anh Vu emphasized the importance of promptly reviewing and implementing a quality improvement plan based on the delegation’s recommendations.
